In March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, Lieke Milder got stuck in a hostel in Cusco, Peru. Suddenly she and her boyfriend where caught within a group of strangers and they didn't know how long the situation was going to take. An interesting social experiment began where she had to make the best out of her time there, together with a lot of different personalities. And so the illustration series 'Quarantine Characters' arose, based upon all the people she was in lockdown with. Each one of them is pictured in their most iconic way of coping with the situation.
You can read all of the individual character stories over here in my shop, where they're also for sale as limited prints.
